Thomas H. Probert, PhD.
Managing Member

Dr. Probert brings over 30 years experience in operational, R&D and business development roles in corporations, government and academia. Syniad was launched in to commercialize his patent portfolio in steganographic watermarking for mission critical software and computational intelligence.

Since leaving WPI in 1996 to create a non-profit R&D  center conducting contract researcj for the defense, intelligence and labor departments in digital rights management and cybersecurity.

Until joining the WPI faculty as an Associate Professor in 1993 with a DARPA research grant,  Dr. Probert held several operational roles at Encore Computer Corporation. wherehe led a DARPA funded high performance computing systems R & D program.

At the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA), .he created and lead a  Division to conduct R&D and prototype exploration for the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Intelligence Community, NSA, FBI, and other federal agencies. Dr, Probert has also held technical or management positions in Mitre Corporation as Division Scientist, NOAA  and several universities 
Dr. Probert has consulted to the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board (PFIAB), the Defense Science Board (DSB) and is a current member of the Homeland Security Cyber Security Working Group.
 
 

Dr. Probert holds both MS (75) and PhD (81) degrees in Computer and Information Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a BA cum laude in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire.
